Real Time Quizzes by SMS messages

Personal Response System clickers are currently gaining popularity in class room teaching. They enable organizing instant quizzes by which the learners and instructors gain feedback of the learning process. Using real time quizzes in teaching changes the dynamics of class room teaching

  • Students are much more focused while following a presentation since they know a quiz is coming up shortly.
  • Instructor gets immediate feedback and can act accordingly.

WebALT has developed TSARQ (Telecommunicating Students' Advanced Response Quiz) system that utilizes mobile phones for real time quizzes. This has the following benefits over using the traditional special clicker devices:

  • Students do not need to obtain a special device, virtually all students have a mobile phone with them.
  • Registering mobile phones is easier than registering clickers to the system.
  • Results and grades are collected to the server (such as Moodle) rather than to a class room computer. No post processing is required.
